Hardly any other winegrower epitomises the upsurge in German Riesling so completely as Philipp Wittmann does. The family is currently cultivating 30 hectares of vineyard in Rheinhessen. Three quarters of the estate is planted to Riesling – their Morstein is legendary. Some 15% of the wines are made from members of the Pinot family, varieties close to Philipp’s heart. His parents had already introduced organic viticulture at the estate; Philipp took over vinification in 1999, with biodynamic certification coming in 2004.

Wittmann is a member of «Respekt», the association of top growers working biodynamically. In addition, Phillipp Wittman is chairman of the VDP Rheinhessen and vice president of the VDP federal association.
