Wine agency FUX is considered as one of Austria’s most renowned specialists for winemakers-champagne and wines from Burgundy. With their extensive portfolio, they represent more than 60 wineries from France. For winter season, they have come up with a new pop-up concept store, where wine connoisseurs can find their favorite wines and sought-after collectors items. For Arlberg Weinberg, Peter Strolz carefully curated an impressive Burgundy- and champagne-selection of 8 wines that will be served for tastings at the pop-up store every day from 28 January until 5 February (except Mondays) between 3-7pm. Rest assured that these will be particularly fine and truly special wines.

They represent a fresh wind in the tradition-bound Wachau: Elisabeth and Erich Pichler-Krutzler, Herwig and Julia Jamek, Erich Machherndl and Karin Machherndl-Sladky, Georg Högl and Georg Frischengruber. This vinological journey explores wines from various Wachau village appellations, detailing the concepts and perspectives that shaped them — in many cases approaches quite different from those of the older winegrowers.

With a playful pun on “The White Ring,” a famous local ski race, the Hotel Post, Hotel Arlberg, Romantik Hotel “Die Krone von Lech” and Hotel Der Berghof have come together for an event they’re calling “The Delicious Ring.” Guests will engage in a culinary parkour through the four establishments. Each restaurant will host several top wine estates and their wines as part of a set tasting, with each venue focused on a different country. Berghof will present Germany, Hotel Arlberg will receive Switzerland, while Hotel Gasthof Post will fly the French flag. These will be accompanied by delicacies from each establishment’s world-class chefs. This includes national and international toplines such as Weingut Aldinger, Weingut Christmann and Weingut Künstler from Germany; Weingut Wegelin, Weingut Baur and Weingut Adank from Switzerland. Also present are Domaine Rebourseau (Gevrey-Chambertin) and Domaine Valentin Leflaive from Avize, represented by Peter Strolz (Fux Weinagentur), who will bring champagne along with white and red wines. Like a ski race, fixed starting slots will be assigned — with a pre-defined route and schedule to comply with the Corona safety regulations. The works of Austrian artist Markus Hofer often focus on ordinary and everyday objects, which he places in a new, often whimsical context with a twinkle in his eye. Through simple but purposeful interventions, he breathes new life into everyday objects, transforming them into sculptural works with a life of their own. With wit and irony, his works invite the viewer to examine their perception. Movement at a standstill and blurred boundaries between sculpture and photography make visitors pause and forget the hectic pace of everyday life. As part of Arlberg Weinberg, Markus Hofer will be exhibiting selected bottle objects at Hotel Kristiania under the motto ‘Weinhandlungen’.

Star Chef Paul Ivić of the renowned Restaurant TIAN, a man known for raising vegetarian cuisine to the highest levels of haute cuisine, will return to the Arlberg this winter, enchanting guests at Hotel Edelweiss with savory vegetarian delicacies. Edelweiss is in fact slated to become the first, and only, vegetarian gourmet restaurant on the Arlberg. A status well worth celebrating! Ideally as part of the Arlberg Weinberg. Guests on 5 February can expect a flying buffet of vegetarian delights from the hand of Paul Ivić, all in the relaxed atmosphere of the Edelweiss Bar. The wine accompaniment will come courtesy of organic winegrower Clemens Strobl (Wagram) and his “handmade wines.” DJ Bler will lay down the proper party sound.
