The STK Estates Say Thank You
While everyday life is slowing down severely for most of us, people working in health care are currently doing particularly intensive work. To thank them, the Steirische Terroir- und Klassikweingüter (STK) Estates (Frauwallner, Gross, Maitz, Lackner-Tinnacher, Neumeister, Polz, Erwin Sabathi, Hannes Sabathi, Sattlerhof, Tement, Winkler-Hermaden & Wohlmuth) have come up with a special campaign.
These twelve wine producers are donating a delivery of 300 bottles of STK wine to KAGES – the Styrian Hospital Partnership – for the benefit of doctors and nurses.

Armin Tement, who co-founded the programme, says: ‘At the moment we have a lot of time for thinking. The main thing that comes to mind involves the people who are making an irreplaceable contribution to community survival in this crisis. We would like to thank these helpers and heroes’.
And THANK YOU to KAGES is not the end of it. Winegrower Katharina Tinnacher tells us, ‘Anyone in Austria who is currently making a special contribution – whether as a doctor, a first-responder in the emergency services, in nursing, or simply because you go do the grocery shopping for older people – can write us a message and we’ll send him or her a bottle of wine as a small token of thanks. ‘The wines should provide a nice moment in this demanding time’, adds Gerhard Wohlmuth.
Please then send an e-mail with address (Austria only) and your special contribution to email@example.com until April 7th, 2020. It will be an Easter present.
The winegrowers’ association STK was founded in 1993 by the pioneers of viticulture in the Steiermark. Today it is the second generation at most estates that strives to investigate the terroir and the climatic peculiarities and to define together a wine language that gives expression and finds an audience for the unique nature of wines from the Steiermark.
One of the most important steps in the course of this joint work was the classification of vineyards sites, which was implemented ten years ago. This was also accompanied by uniform regulations regarding origins and standards of quality. With the 2018 vintage, the DAC regulation for the Steiermark finally came into force, in which the twelve STK estates (Gross, Frauwallner, Lackner-Tinnacher, Neumeister, Maitz, Polz, E. Sabathi, H. Sabathi, Sattlerhof, Tement, Winkler -Hermaden und Wohlmuth) played a leading role, making their experiences and successes accessible to the entire Styrian winegrowing community.

In difficult times like these, the special skills of entrepreneurs become apparent. These folks don’t stick their heads in the sand, but rather step forward and take the lead – one way or another. With our series #mutmachen, we want to provide a stage for all of those individuals who make a positive contribution in this critical phase, and thus encourage all of us.
