Character-driven wines with a story to tell. A story of place and time. Wines of deep nuanced aromas. Wines ready to make friends. That, for Josef Pimpel, is the definition of good taste. As a winegrower, he is responsible for work both in the vineyards and the cellar, with strong support from his family as well. The vineyards are cultivated with a minimalist philosophy, with the processing of the grapes tailored to each respective variety. The reds are produced in large wood barrels or barrique, while the whites remain on the fine lees following cool fermentation to promote greater maturity. Blaufränkisch and Grüner Veltliner are among his personal favorites. His favorite sites include Ried Rosenberg 1ÖTW in Göttlesbrunn and Ried Spitzerberg 1ÖTW in Prellenkirchen.
